New Pieces for Spring 2010

Here are some new pieces for spring exhibits that include my continued exploration of firing found metal objects directly into the clay. I've been going in this direction for about a year after having attended a workshop by sculptor, Lisa Clague, who graciously shared her creativity and wisdom of adding metal to clay - something I had previously never considered possible.

I've rummaged through all my friends and neighbors old coffee cans of nails, screws and junk. I've scoured the back shelves of antique shops and hardware store attics. Friends have left treasures of old tools, bed springs and car parts on the front porch. My small studio has gotten even smaller as these new finds pile up. And my tetanus shot is current.
